About Tetris

Tetris is the most influential puzzle game ever created, captivating billions of players since 1984. This masterpiece of game design challenges you to manipulate seven different geometric shapes (tetrominoes) as they fall from the top of the playing field. Create complete horizontal lines to clear them and score points. As you progress, the pieces fall faster, demanding quicker thinking and more precise placement. The game's elegant simplicity combined with infinite depth has made Tetris a cultural phenomenon that transcends gaming.

How to Play Tetris

Use the Left and Right arrow keys to move falling tetrominoes horizontally. Press the Up arrow to rotate pieces clockwise, or Z to rotate counter-clockwise. Press the Down arrow to speed up the piece's descent, or Space bar to instantly drop it to the bottom (hard drop). Arrange the falling pieces to create complete horizontal lines - when a line is filled with blocks, it disappears and you earn points. Clear multiple lines simultaneously for bonus scores (single=100, double=300, triple=500, Tetris=800 points). The game ends when blocks stack to the top of the playing field.

Tips & Strategies

  • Save the I-piece (long straight tetromino) for Tetris opportunities - clearing four lines at once gives maximum points
  • Build a flat surface with minimal gaps to maintain flexibility for future pieces
  • Learn T-spins - rotating the T-piece into tight spaces can clear difficult gaps and earn bonus points
  • Don't build too high - leave yourself room to maneuver and recover from mistakes
  • Preview the next piece and plan ahead - knowing what's coming helps you position the current piece optimally
  • Use hard drops (spacebar) for speed, but plan carefully - you can't adjust after dropping
  • Create a well on one side for vertical I-pieces to score Tetrises consistently
